TeenyFreaks

After releasing six successful blind-bag series of their sports-themed TeenyMates, I began to wonder what Party Animal Toys would come up with next.  I suspected they would release something original; in other words, something not attached to a licensed franchise. In October, I was quite pleased to discover that they had done just that.

They're called TeenyFreaks.  Instead of one inch figures representing generic transracial players from all the current NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL teams, we now get these similarly styled, yet twisted, little characters.  Each figure is a double-sided sculpt with one side representing what you might call a "normal" citizen, and the other being his or her "freaky" persona.

1. Cosmic Calamity

2. Officer Rotten

3. Fire Frighter

4. Ghoul Scout

5. Yummy Mummy

6. Doctor Oculus

7. Zoo Creeper

8. Miss Switch

9. Freaksy the Clown

10. Heavy Metal

 11. Speed Demon

 12. Dare Devilish

Just like TeenyMates, TeenyFreaks come blind-bagged with two figures and two puzzle pieces.  The base set is only twelve figures, though you may want to collect two of each in order to display both of their personalities at the same time.  Still, not bad considering that a base set of any of the TeenyMates series comprises either 30 or 32 figures.  You will, however, have to buy many more packs if you are interested in completing the 35-piece puzzle. Just like the TeenyMates series, the puzzle forms a five inch by seven inch double-sided image; one a "mini-poster" featuring all the characters, and the other a "playset" sort of representing a backdrop appropriate for the toyline.

Finally, there are an additional four rare variant figures for which the determined collector will no doubt want to chase. I was able to find two of the four.

13. rare glow-in-the-dark variant of #1 Cosmic Calamity (1:48 packs)

14. rare alternate paint variant of  #2 Officer Rotten called "Graveyard Shifter" (1:96 packs)

15. rare glow-in the dark variant of #3 Fire Frighter (1:148 packs)

16. rare metallic gold variant of #10 Heavy Metal called "Goldi Roxx" (1:275 packs)

  1. I have collected Teenymates and love the Teenyfreaks line. I am beginning to wonder if the Goldi Roxx figure actually exist though. I have bought multiple boxes and a fellow collector has done the same. Neither of us has seen it yet. I have never seen it on auction sites either. Frustrating...., but fun.
