Monster Maniacs

Monster Maniacs were part of Wild Planet's Fizz 'n' Find toyline of 2009.  This toyline featured a variation of the blind bag/box gimmick in which the toys came embedded in sodium bicarbonate. You let the sodium bicarbonate dissolve in water to reveal your unknown figure.  The mass of sodium bicarbonate that contained the figure was packaged to look like a single creepy eye. Although the toys are called Monster Maniacs, all the figures are cool zombies. The best thing is that the figures are embedded in pieces, and therefore, they are articulated, once assembled.  They can be positioned at the shoulders, waist, and neck (when available -- see first figure). Assembled figures are about 1.75 inches tall.   The designs are quite original and the paint jobs are impeccable.

These are the only five Monster Maniacs I have ever found.  Strangely, I bought all five packs brand new -- one at a thrift shop and the rest on ebay -- and I never got a single duplicate. There is one more figure that I do not have -- he's called Stitches. If you have the 6th figure, please let me know!

Also, it is worth noting that there was a "Coming Soon... Series 2" collection of characters shown on the package. Despite having images and names of six more awesome looking figures, the second series was never produced.  It's unfortunate, considering how cool these little zombies are.
